URL as UI (21 Mar 1999)
The URL will continue to be part of the Web user interface for several more years, so a usable site requires: 1. a domain name that is easy to remember and easy to spell 2. short URLs 3. easy-to-type URLs 4. URLs that visualize the site structure 5. URLs that are "hackable" to allow users to move to higher levels of the information architecture by hacking off the end of the URL 6. persistent URLs that don't change
