Roger Brent and the Alpha Project (10 Mar 2004)
The Alpha Project is an attempt to say that for biological understanding to be mature we need to be able to predict the consequences of a determined change to a [biological] system, just as we can in mechanics or electricity. That is, if we can predict what the system will do whenever we push on it in any defined way, we will understand it.
