Business is a tough game. (06 Feb 2004)
Business is dramatic and business is everywhere, but in new media, business has been neither. From a distance, the US and Europe appear immensely prosperous and immensely wealthy -- and almost completely uninterested in prosperity and wealth. Our theaters and airwaves are filled with stories of almost every vocation except business. Physicians and laywers, police officers and detectives, soldiers and statesmen and housewives regularly star in the theater and on the television. They're common in the novel, too, where they're often joined by writers and painters and actors. But of manufacturers and merchants, we hear surprisingly little.
