A dialogue across time and cultures: A review of Literatura hipertextual y teoria literaria. (29 Apr 2004)
As expressed in the title of this review, the most interesting feature of this book is that the mixed presentation of articles, alternating some "old" ones (from the nineties) with new ones written by Spanish scholars, works as a lively dialogue between some of the most prominent figures of the hypertext paradigm and those who approach it for the first time. While it might initially seem as a disadvantage that most of the foreign articles are around ten years old in a world as flickering as that of the electronic word, the questions they raise are by no means dead, and they are taken up with enthusiasm by Spanish scholars who now have the benefit of having lived with the Internet ten years longer than their predecessors, in a world where not all electronic literature is called hypertext anymore.
