This narrow description may explain the current misunderstanding that wayfinding is essentially the same as "signage." The two terms are not synonymous. Signmakers deal with designing, fabricating and installing signs. However, wayfinding used to navigate unfamiliar environments, doesn't rely exclusively on signs.
