Security technologies research manager, Nick Edwards, explained: "The system uses a biometric technique known as dynamic signature verification, which examines a number of properties of a signature to determine whether the signature matches the sample that's already been supplied to us by those taking part in our trial. Far from comparing only the final image of a signature, the algorithm is able to compare many aspects of it like the speed of the individual strokes, and in which order they're made."
