Louise Ferguson : getting by in the corporate workspace (14 Jul 2004)
A lot of KM and CRM systems are based around a dubious premise. Often staff don't want to share information. People use paper based systems and their own memories to gain intellectual capital. Staff can have good reasons for not sharing e.g. training, time, status. We don't know what's useful until we need it. Found a lot of surprisingly simple systems. E.g. free-text areas that are not searchable so it's easier to shout across the room to access someones 'mental' database.
