Karaoke Revolution (03 Sep 2004)
I might as well confess immediately: I majored in voice at high school. Highly addictive, Karaoke Revolution (KR) works like a magnet for those of us who love to sing. Thus, KR was destined to end up in my Playstation 2 drive, bringing together my two very favorite activities: singing and playing.

But singers, odd as it may seem, are only a sub-group of Konani's target audience. A decent voice will not help you to win the game; in fact, the quality of your voice is not a factor in mastering KR's gameplay.

A game round in KR challenges beginners (3 songs), intermediate (4 songs) and advanced players (5 songs). At the beginning of a round you will pick an avatar to represent you at the stage, you'll create an artist name and you'll choose between four levels of judging difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard and Difficult). Before you select your titles, you may also opt to let the game make a random choice for your final song. This option, however, can stir up your carefully designed repertoire: I lost my lead after having to sing Michael Jackson's Billie Jean.
