Space Mission (18 Jun 2005)
In the scenario for this Space Mission project, a team of international astronauts has landed on Europa to establish a base inside its thick ice crust. But during an expedition through the caves deep in the ice, serious problems force them to reconsider their mission. As oxygen runs low, radiation levels soar, and ice caves collapse around them, they radio for immediate assistance…
Pupils involved in the ice moon mission must take responsibility for saving these astronauts from the dangers beneath the ice. As members of the Emergency Response Team charged with managing and implementing the rescue plan for the astronauts, the pupils are arranged in teams, each with different areas of expertise. They will have to deal with medical problems, navigational challenges, ice vibration readings, satellite data, and communication problems, as well as the challenges of team working.
