Delivering Newly Published Technical Reports via Database-Generated RSS (17 Feb 2006)
HP Labs technical reports are research papers, reports and articles published by HP Labs. RSS, a format of XML, provides a way to deliver fresh content on the Web. At HP Labs Research Library, we manage the metadata of HP Labs technical reports through our technical report system, a custom library catalog system. We have used RSS to make newly published technical reports from our library system available externally as RSS feeds on HP Labs Technical Reports website (http://www.hpl.hp.com/techreports/) and internally on our intranet. The RSS feed provides an alternative for the public to access development of research performed at HP Labs via an external website and for researchers to keep pace with progress of research and to collaborate on various projects internally.
